Welcome Hawkeye Fans to the University of Iowa 2019 Official Outback Bowl Tour!

To ensure that all goes smoothly, please read the following tour information carefully as it will provide valuable information about your trip. Official tour credential
Your tour credentials will be distributed in Tampa at the UI/Travel Leaders Hospitality Desk in the Marriott. To help our tour hosts identify you as part of the UI Official Outback Bowl Tour, we require you to wear your official tour credential (name badge) for all Bowl Tour related events, including game day transportation.


Game tickets
If you purchased game tickets as part of the Charter Air Package, they will be distributed at the airport at the UI check-in area prior to your departure. If you purchased a Land-only Package and game tickets are part of your package, they will be distributed at the hotel at the UI/Travel Leaders Hospitality Desk. You will be required to show photo ID for game ticket pick-up. Please keep your game tickets in a secure location until you board the motorcoach the day of the game.

Weather
In December and early January, the daily high temperatures in Tampa can range from the mid-60s to upper 70s, while evening temperatures are typically in the low-50s.
  


Clothing
There is no specific dress code for any of the program inclusions.  If you are making dinner reservations or have plans for New Year’s Eve, you may want to ask about restaurant or event dress codes, but for the most part casual attire is just fine. 

Meals
Meals are not included in your package price. When planning meals, please allow enough time to be on time for scheduled group departures.

Departure from Eastern Iowa Airport-Cedar Rapids (CID)
  
Check-in Location: Main Terminal. Look for UI/Travel Leaders "Official Outback Bowl Tour" signs. Travel Leaders Destinations Unlimited staff will be available to assist you.

Check-in Time: We recommend that you check-in at the ticket counter 1 and 1/2 hours prior to departure time to allow enough time to go through TSA screening.

    
Eastern Iowa Airport-Cedar Rapids Airport Parking
There are two lots: Short-term and Long-term; however, there is no specific time limit for either lot. Short-term parking spots are closer to the terminal entrance and cost $12 per day. Long-term parking spots are farther from the terminal entrance and cost $7 per day. Credit and debit cards are acceptable forms of payment.

Park and Fly Package Opportunity: The Country Inn & Suites close to The Eastern Iowa Airport is offering our group a special park and fly rate. One night’s accommodations, shuttle to the airport and parking for up to 7 days is $99 plus tax.  Airport shuttle service is from 4 am to 11 pm daily on a demand basis. Baggage
To ensure proper handling of your baggage, please adhere to the following instructions:
  1. Make sure you have a valid form of ID on your bags complete with your name, address and cell phone number.
  2. Limit yourself to one (1) checked bag and one (1) carry-on item and one (1) small, personal item that must fit in the overhead compartment or beneath the seat. Southwest Airlines limits carry-on bag dimensions to 10 x 16 x 24 inches (includes handles and wheels). Personal-type items include purses, briefcases, cameras, and laptops (case included) and must fit within the 18.5 x 8.5 x 13.5 inch dimensions. Standard checked bag allowance is a total of 62 inches (Length + Width + Height) and must weigh no more than 50 lbs.   Be sure to keep all necessary medications with you.
  
Airport Check-in
No airline ticket accompanies this itinerary.  Please arrive at the airport one-and-a-half (1 and 1/2) hours prior to departure to allow enough time to check-in and go through the TSA lines.  If parking at the airport, please allow extra time.

Upon arrival at the airport, look for UI/Travel Leaders tour signs and staff to assist you with check-in. 

Once you check in, you will receive your boarding pass. A government-issued photo ID (federal, state or local) is required. Travelers may be asked to show this ID at subsequent points, such as TSA screening, along with boarding passes. Children under the age of 16 do not need to present ID. Note: Charter flights will have meal service appropriate to the time of day, along with complimentary soft drinks. Beer, wine and liquor will be available for purchase (credit or debit card only).

Please verify that the name(s) listed on your confirmation matches the name(s) on your photo ID.
  
Arrival in Tampa
Upon arrival, you will be met by staff who will assist you in boarding your private motorcoach to the Marriott.

Once at the Marriott, you will be directed to the UI/Travel Leaders Hospitality Desk to pick up your room key. Although you have been pre-registered at the hotel, you must present your credit or debit card to the front desk to guarantee any incidental charges (phone calls, room service, etc.). Please note that if you use a debit card, the hotel may place a temporary hold on your account for the duration of your stay. Most holds fall off 3-10 business days after your check-out date.

Checked luggage will be delivered to your hotel room after you receive your room key. Plan on at least two to three hours for luggage delivery. You do not need to be present in your room for luggage delivery Since all porterage and baggage handling gratuities are included in your package price, it is not necessary to tip the bell staff. If someone else’s baggage is mistakenly placed in your room, please contact the bell desk of the hotel immediately. If your arrival occurs prior to 4:00 pm, your room may not be ready. In this case, your luggage will be stored in a secure location and will be delivered to your room after you receive your key.   

Land-only Packages
For those not flying on the UI/Travel Leaders charter flight, the tour will begin upon your arrival at the hotel. Please note the check-in times listed for the hotel. Land-only participants who arrive via commercial flights are responsible for their own transportation to The Marriott Waterside.
Tampa International Airport
The hotel is 6 miles SE of Tampa International Airport.  Approximate taxi fare one way is $25.  Blue One Transportation is $15 per person one way – reservations required.  ( blueonetransportation.com  / phone  813-282-7351)

Directions to the hotel:
Follow Interstate 275 North for six miles to downtown exit 44. Take the Ashley Drive ramp toward Tampa Street. Make a slight right turn merging onto North Ashley Drive. Turn left onto East Whiting Street, right onto South Franklin Street and left onto Old Water Street. The hotel is immediately on the right.

Immediately following the trophy ceremony, motorcoaches will depart the stadium returning to the Marriott Waterside.  Look for the University of Iowa Official 2019 Outback Bowl Tour signs to help direct you to the motorcoaches.  Motorcoaches will “load and go” after the game.  The last motorcoach will depart an hour after the game is over.

Charter Air Packages
Please refer to the departure information posted at the UI/Travel Leaders Hospitality Desk for departure times. Report to the lobby with your luggage.  If you would like bell staff assistance, please call ½ hour before you want to leave your room or arrange it the night before.  NO TIPPING is necessary.  All participants must settle incidental charges directly with the hotel front desk before boarding the motorcoach to the airport.  Have a safe trip home !

A clear bag and metal detection screening policy is now in effect for all events held at Raymond James Stadium. To expedite the screening process, below are a few recommended guidelines:
  • Empty pockets of cell phones and any large metal objects as you enter the inspection area
  • Unzip and open coats, jackets, blankets and approved clear bags as you enter the inspection area
